kaftan farman visgraat wol creme Griekse - Romeinse - Keltische schilden sword training and stage combatThe caftan is a garment that originally comes from Persia and Central Asia and found its way to the Viking world through trade contacts with the steppe peoples and the East. Archaeologists distinguish two main forms: an older, asymmetrical wrap over caftan with an overlapping front, known from finds in Valsgrde and Hedeby and already worn in the Vendel period (550 800 AD), and a later symmetrical caftan that closes with a row of buttons in the front.
